Can never understand manufactures get away with installing undersized wires on drives that can cost over $10,000 each. When I perform an IR scan during a PM these wires are 15 to 20 degrees F hotter then inside of cabinet. Thus wasted heat has 2 problems: 1) waste money creating heat & 2) will burn up at contactors a lot more often then the properly sized wires electricians install.. Yep been hearing it for over 40 years these companies especially cheating lack of quality control communist china do not have to follow the NEC. The very first 100 HP 480 volt VFD that I installed only had #4 copper wires for a 122 amp load. Drive was installed in a warm room and ran 24/7. Of course the #4 wires had to be at least 145 degrees. Does not make sense the 2020 NEC demands that you install at least 50% of residental receptacles be controlled to secure power. Most of these receptacles will not pay for itself in a hundred years. Great ROI.
